COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective It is aimed to introduce typography, which is one of the basic elements of Graphic Design, and to create an infrastructure for typography courses which will continue in the following periods. The aim of the course is to create creative solutions by studying design elements such as creating meaning through association, loading meaning, title, subtitle, text. The choice of the fonts is based on the basic elements of the design (point, line, stain, texture, perspective, pattern, color, composition, space, balance, rhythm, ratio-proportion, motion, contrasts etc.) on the basic subjects such as color, .) Together to increase the graphic value of the work. Thus, it is the purpose of the course that the learners can use the information they have obtained in basic design education in practice. Visual text relation and editing on the page is another purpose of the course.
Course Content To learn the basic terms of typography. To understand the history of writing and the developmental stage of typography in time. To learn the anatomical characteristics of writing characters. Acquisition of application skills in manual and digital media. To be able to comprehend typographic editing principles. To be able to create effective compositions by using typographic elements and general design principles in one place. The appropriate use of the pie in message, purpose and content in graphic products for different purposes. To know structural differences between fonts. To learn font design programs and to design original font family suitable for a specific purpose.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1The letter which is the basic building stone of typography can be used together with basic elements of design
2Consciousness of the diversity of the font characters and the diversity of the design that is desired to be described in the design
3Ability to produce creative solutions according to the information given to the given projects
4To be able to finish the projects in a timely and complete manner and prepare them correctly
5Ability to demonstrate knowledge and practicality of material knowledge and use
6Ability to use Adobe Illustrator
