112 EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION (Evening Classes)

GENERAL INFORMATION
The Preschool Education Program offer both undergraduate program since 1993 and graduate program since 1998. Since the first graduates of the program in 1997, it has developed both in quality and quantity. The instructional activities take place in a democratic and collaborative atmosphere with a dynamic staff who are experts in their fields. There are five assistant professors, one instructor and four research assistants in the department. Besides the theoretical knowledge, the program serves the practical education of preschool both in daytime and evening classes. The program offers both undergraduate and graduate programs in Turkish.

Objective
The main goal of the Early Childhood Education Program is to prepare teachers who have positive attitudes toward teaching and have necessary professional skills for teaching young children and working with families. It emphasizes on developing critical thinking, problem solving, communication and reflection skills. It prepares highly qualified teachers and competent professionals who can work for social institutions in both public and private sectors.


Admission Requirements
Students must comply with the legal and academic requirements to access the studies in The Sakarya University according to the process established by the ÖSYM (Higher Education Council Student Selection and Placement Centre) regulations. Students who have started studies in other universities within or outside of the country may apply for their recognition. The recognition record is unique for each student and therefore the procedure is carried out accordingly before the start of each academic year.

Graduation Requirements
Students are required to complete all compulsory and elective courses in the curriculum successfully with no failing grades, including compulsory practical trainings, and have a minimum CGPA requirement as stated in Pamukkale University’s undergraduate program guidance.

Career Opportunties
The graduates of the program might work as preschool teachers in the earlier grades of state and private primary schools, state and private nursery schools and study centers. The graduates might also be able to enroll in graduate programs

TEACHING & LEARNING METHODS
