163 PHILOSOPHY

GENERAL INFORMATION
To achieve a full representation, our department of philosophy mainly joins systematic and historical viewpoints. We offer a wide variety courses in core areas of philosophy, aiming to teach both history of philosophy and the basic problems of philosophy. Our department tries to introduce the student to different views and philosophical discussions taken place in the history of philosophy. In addition, our program provides its students the opportunity to take 16 credits sociology and 16 credits psychology courses.

Objective
The undergraduate program aims to equip students with academic skills needed to deal with philosophical issues.


Admission Requirements
Students preferring to enroll our department must pass a general exam organized by the Turkish Higher Educational Council.

Graduation Requirements
Each student must earn at least 240 ECTS credits and succeed. Graduation point must be at least 2.30/4.00

Career Opportunties
After earning a four year degree, our graduates (BAs) become a teacher. They teach philosophy in public or private schools. They are also eligible to find jobs in public offices.

First Cycle (Bachelor's Degree)

Recognition of Prior Learning
Students can gain the right to registry in undergraduate education after completing secondary education institutions. Registered students can change institutions. They can ask for exemption from the courses they have taken before and were successful. Those who change institutions with lateral transfer and those who have completed another higher education institution before also benefit from this right. In addition, exemption exam from foreign language courses is given for newly registered students. Those who are successful in this exam are deemed exempt/successful from these courses in all higher education institutions. In our department, minor education is also provided. These processes are carried out in accordance with the relevant regulations and directives.

Access to Further Studies
Candidates who have successfully completed their undergraduate studies can study in post-graduate programs provided that they receive valid grades from ALES and have sufficient knowledge of English.

4To be able to list the problems and views discussed in ontology, epistemology and ethics.
5To be able to present contemporary philosophical problems and to compare the solutions provided.
6To be able to verbally articulate important philosophical issues stated in philosophical texts.
7To be able to critically asses certain social-political issues and to offer solutions to them.
8To write a paper or thesis in philosophy.
9In expressing philosophical problems, philosophical concepts being employed must be used adequately.

11 To be able to act responsibly and try to avoid wrongdoing.
12To present the periods of the history of Turkish culture and critically asses philosophical works published in these periods.
13To critically interpret philosophical solutions provided in philosophical texts.

DebateDepending on the situation, debate is a tool that allows all students, or a specific portion of the class to participate in the lesson. In this method, members of the group discuss a topic by addressing the various points of view and discuss alternative opinions about problem-solving.
