169 ARCHAEOLOGY

GENERAL INFORMATION
Despite it was among the first departments of the Science and Arts Faculty, it has been swung into action in December 1997 as Archaeology and Art History Department. It has been separated as Archaeology Department by the Council of Universities on 08.05.2002. The department has Prehistory, Protohistory and Asia Minor, Classical Archaeology sub-departments. Bachelors, M.A. and PhD. programs are available.

Objective
The aim of the program is to educate the expert archaeologists who will do their best for official departments of Ministry of Culture and Tourism and other ministries. To give professional and scientific ethic for educating young scientists who will reach important successes about their careers in the future, to contribute development of primarily regional archaeology and Turkish archaeology effectively.

To take a mandotory EA point from OSYM exam

Graduation Requirements
Students are required to successfully complete all compulsory and elective courses in the curriculum with no failing grades, including compulsory practical and summer training, and have a minimum CGPA requirement as stated in Pamukkale University’s postgraduate program guide.

Career Opportunties
The students who will graduate as ‘‘Archaeologist ’’ will be able to work at the museums of the Culture and Tourism Ministry and at BOTAS which belongs to the Ministry of Energy, at the municipalities, tourism agencies, at the directorates of Culture, and at the private and state sectors

Candidates who have successfully completed their undergraduate studies can study in post-graduate programs provided that they receive valid grades from ALES and have sufficient knowledge of English.
