Course Objective
The primary aim of this course is to equip students with the knowledge of recented topics in the area of Turkish language teaching such as reading comprehension, reading difficulties, bilingual learning, contemporary writing approaches, practices towards developing the speaking skill, visual reading-visual presentation, e-book reading and creative drama.
Course Content
The language teaching practices of developed countries at elementary school level are examined, and evaluations are made based on examples. Literature reviews are conducted on teaching Turkish in elementary school teaching, awareness towards scholarly works is raised, and new academic research topics are identified. Publications such as theses, articles, proceedings and books in the area of elementary education and Turkish language teaching are examined. Research methods, sampling techniques, data gathering tools and analysis methods used in the studies related to Turkish language teaching are examined, and a detailed analysis of the scientific methods used in the area is done. Within the course, the draft of a scientific research is written by finding a current problem or topic in the area of Turkish language teaching in elementary education. In this way, students make a start to scientific research by forming a draft article based on a topic identified.
