Course Objective Gears are important parts of machines. Strength of gears can be increased 2-3 times with special teratmens.
Course Content Gear materials: plain carbon and alloy gear steels, gray and ductile cast ıron, cast steel, high performance gear materials, wrought and cast bronze alloys, various metals, non metallik gear materials. Heat treatments of gears: annealed, normalized and tempered of gears, case hardening of gears: carburizing, nitriding, ınduction hardening, flame hardening of gears. Effect of core properties and case depth, ınternal oxidation: decarburization, carbides, retained austenite and microstructural features on fatigue streng of gears : Postcarburizing thermal treatments : grinding, roller burnishing, shot peening
