Course Objective
To describe the chemical properties of parental magmas and explain the crystallization processes of the igneous rocks which are generated from these magmas. To demonstrate the chemical composition of minerals which occur in igneous rocks using by phase diagrams. To explain how igneous rocks are generated from parental magmas in the Earth’s crust and upper mantle. To describe the properties of petrographic provences at Turkey and the world.
Course Content
Magma and crystallization of the magma, compositional changes of the magmas, chemical compositions of rock forming minerals and using phase diagrams, classification and naming of magmatic rocks, classical and special naming principles, occurance models of magmatic rocks, systematic petrography of magmatic rocks, petrographic provences of the world and Turkey.
