Course Objective The igneous rock-forming minerals; modes of occurrence of igneous rocks and consolidation of magma; origin of granitic rocks; the basic igneous rocks; distribution and origin of basalts; the mafic feldspatiodal lavas and relates types; lamprophyres; ultramafites; metamorphism; metamorphic facies types; contact metamorphism; regional metamorphisim and facies types; pyroclastic rocks; microscopic studies.
