JEO 555GEOTHERMOMETER APPLICATIONS IN EVALUATION OF GEOTHERMAL FIELDS3 + 01st Semester6

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course Level Doctorate Degree
Course Type Elective
Course Objective Estimation of subsurface temperature in a geothermal field is very important to determine using conditions (i.e. electricity production, spa, greenhouse, swimming) given in the Lindal diagram from geothermal fluid. The course is focus on this subject.
Course Content Classification of geothermal fluids (stable and radioisotope compositions of thermal fluids, Cl-SO4-HCO3 and Cl-Li-B diagrams), cation geothermometers (Na-K-Mg diagram, Na/K, Na-K-Ca, Na/Li, Mg/Li geothermometers), silica geothermometers, mineral equilibrium diagram, mixing models (Schoeller diagram, silica-enthalpy and silica-carbonate models), gas chemistry, gas geothermometers (CO2, CO2/H2 and CO2/N2 geothermometers), hydrothermal alteration geothermometer, calculations, computer programs, graphic representations, evaluations of analytic results and interpretations.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.
Mode of Delivery Face to Face

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Ability to estimate of subsurface temperature in a geothermal field is very important to determine using conditions (i.e. electricity production, spa, greenhouse, swimming) given in the Lindal diagram from geothermal fluid.
