Course Objective Aim of this course is to gain scientific, technical and economic knowledge to students about carbonate spring deposits like travertine and tufa
Course Content Classification of travertines, formation mechanisms, review of important travertine fields in the World, physical and chemicial properties of travertines and travertine-precipitating spring water, travertine lithotypes, lithofacies and depositional systems, dating methods, general descriptions of Denizli travertines in western Turkey, active Pamukkale travertines and their environmental problems, economic potential of travertines and travertine marbling.
