Course Objective The course focuses on the advanced methods used for transportation network design.
Course Content Definitions of transportation network design problem (NDP); the general mathematical formulation of the NDP and solving it using bi-level programming approach; the classification of upper-level problems in bi-level programming; the classification of lower-level problems in bi-level programming; the classification of transportation NDPs according to different objectives; the formulation of continuous network design problem and its solution methods; the formulation of discrete network design problem and its solution methods; applications of transportation NDP solution methods and comparison of their results.
