COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course Level Doctorate Degree
Course Type Elective
Course Objective To give the students detailed information on the sediment transport in rivers, to show the variations of flow due to existing solid materials, to teach how to calculate the rate of sediment transport in rivers.
Course Content The importance of two-phase motion for engineering applications and the problems related with two-phase motion in practical applications. The origin and properties of sediment particles.Size, shape and fall velocity of sediment particles.Description of fluid and flow properties.Determination of shear stress and velocity distributions.Determination of dimensionless parameters of two-phase motion by using dimensional analysis and their meanings.Initiation of sediment motion.Critical velocity, critical shear stress an critical lift force criteria.Evolution and development of sand waves.Resistance to flow and it's components.Bed-load,suspended-load and total load transport rates.Design of stable channels.River training and bank protection studies. .
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.
Mode of Delivery Face to Face

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
