Course Objective The aim of this course is to provide an advanced information dealing with groundwater hydrulics
Course Content Introduction. Definitions. Fluids and Porous Media Properties. Pressure and Piezometric Head. Hydraulic Conductivity and Permeability. The Fundamental Fluid Transport Equations in Porous Media. Darcy's Law. Rotational and Irrotational Flow. The Conservation Equation of a Homogeneous Fluid. Solving Boundary and Initial Value Problems. The Relations Between Solutions of Flow Problems in Isotropic and Anisotropic Media. Solutions By Numerical Methods. Unconfined Flow and the Dupuit Approximation. Unsaturated Flow. Groundwater Component Position in The Hydrological Cycle; Geological Formations, Aquifer Types, Unconfined, Confined, Leaky and Perched Aquifers; Static and Dynamic Groundwater Level, Groundwater Measurements, Drawdown, Discharge, Aquifer Hydraulics and Various Methodologies, Hydrogeological Parameters, Porosity, Specific Yield and Retention, Pumping Tests, Type Curves, Groundwater Resources of Turkey, Field Studies.
