COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course Level Doctorate Degree
Course Type Elective
Course Objective The study of molecular plant virology is one of the most rapidly advancing and exciting areas in biology today. During the course, students learn fundamental principles of molecular biology of plant viruses. Various discussions are included such as plant virus replication and interactions with the host to produce disease. Topics include virus replication strategies, cell-to-cell and systemic movement, host defense responses and virus counterstrategies, and engineered resistance.
Course Content Plant virus taxonomy; Plant virus entry; Plant virus replication; Virus and host interaction; Cell-to-cell movement; Systemic movement; Host defense responses; Transgenic plant resistance mechanism.
