Course Objective The aim of the lecture to understand knowledge of the mechanisms of DNA damage and repair At the end of this lecture, students are expected to have knowledge of mechanisms genomis DNA damage, oxidative stress and free radicals and the molecular mechanisms of the DNA repair in prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms at PhD level and competence to analyze the knowledge at research area .
Course Content Oxidative stres and free Radicals: Free radical formation in biological systems, The toxixity of Oxygen, free radical formation with ionise radiation Oxidative DNA damage: The types of DNA damage, interactions of free radicals with DNA DNA repair: Photoreactivation, adaptive response Nucleotide Excision: 3-methyladenin-DNA glycosylase, urasil-DNA glycosylase, Hydroxymethyluracil-DNA glycosylase, Hypoxanthine-DNA glycosylase, 5-mrthylcytosine-DNA glycosylase. Repair synthesis and DNA ligase .
