Course Objective Gender has been the subject of many recent researches and placed in the centre of many feminist works, especially in the works produced by ethnic women writers. The course gives the background of the conceptual and methodological background. The main focus of the course is on the problems of gender based readings of literature, popular culture, media and films. Through an interdisciplinary approach (visual and cultural studies, gay-queer theories, post-colonial discourse, comparative literature, psychoanalysis, sociology, etc.) the course is associated with different power and ideology mechanisms in different regions. The course provides the students with chance to discuss gender-based critical texts, methodological and philosophical ideas and differences between Western Eastern feminisms and literary and cultural studies.
Course Content Definition of American novel, types of American novel, literary terms and periods, methodology in analysing novels and novel research technics.
