Course Objective The aim of this course, the classical texts of Chagatay Turkish which a very productive field in the history of Turkish language is to read and analyze and evaluate the existing grammar problems from the original sources.
Course Content In the classical period covering the 15th and 16th centuries of Chagatay Turkish, works belonging to Ali Şir Nevâyî, Gedâyî, Sultan Hüseyin Baykara, Hamidî, Sultan Babür, Bayram Han and Haydar Mirza is to read, to do language analysis, to evaluate these in the context of history of Turkish language.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Students will be able to read and analyze 15.-16. Century Classical Chagatay literary texts from their originals.
2Students will be able to explain the existing grammatical issues in Classical Chagatay literary texts in the light of existing works.
3Students learn to evaluate the problems in texts in the context of other Turkish dialects and to make new interpretations.
4Students will be able to understand the phonetic features of Classical Chagatay literary texts.
5Students will be able to understand the syntactic properties of Classical Chagatay literary texts.
6Students will be able to understand the semantic properties of Classical Chagatay literary texts.
