Course Objective The aims of this course to reveal what evil is, to explain how the goodness of God is compatible with the evils in the universe, to examine the theories of evil and theodice in philosophical thought.
Course Content 1- The meaning of evil in philosophical thought 2- The philosophers' thoughts about slavery 3- The meaning of theodice 4- Theories about theodice 5- The defense of free will 6- The theory of soul-making 7- Logical and evidential approaches to evil 8- Evil as a basis of atheism 9- Islam 10- The best possible universe view of Ghazals 11- Comparison of Ghazal universe view with Leibniz's view of the universe 12- The views of Islamic theologians about evil 13- Kur'ani theodise 14- The teolojical theodise
