Course Objective The aim of the "Social Structure and Art" course in postgraduate education is to teach the sociology of art at the level of specialization under "special headings" by extending the knowledge based on the contemporary art-society relationship and educational practices. Accordingly, sub-objectives can be expressed as follows, depending on the scope of the course: - To understand the concept of social structure and to examine its relationship with art in both directions. - To discuss and evaluate that art is a social phenomenon. - To investigate the impact of art on the cultural, political and economic structure of society. - To research and evaluate the role of art in social change and its critical approach through “social justice, gender, human rights, environment, digital transformation and other” current issues. - To examine the impact of social structure on the production, financing, distribution, criticism and promotion of art. - Understanding cross-cultural differences, the global trade in art, and the art of other countries.
Course Content The most agreed view about "art", which is considered as a concept open to change in the historical system, is that it is a "social phenomenon". Art is made by man, so it is considered an artifact outside of natural processes. The output of human intelligence includes creative elements, which naturally affects the social structure organized in the form of complex relationships. In the first stage, within the sociology approach as a research-oriented course; social structure and social institutions will be examined. In the second stage, the subjects of art as a social institution reflecting, changing and criticizing the society will be discussed. In the last stage, the society-art relationship; Issues such as power, culture industry, consumer culture, art in the public sphere, gender, feminist art in particular, art audience and art activities, new artistic expression opportunities, art and accessibility to art in urban and rural areas will be evaluated within the scope of student research.

3(3) Discusses the relationship between education, which is a social institution, and art.
4(4) Evaluates the effect of social structure on the production of art.
5(5) Explain the role of art in social change through current concepts, events and facts.
6(6) Discusses concepts such as the culture industry, art trade and management, art institutions and art events at an academic level and uses them in their research.
