Course Objective The main aim of this course is to develop learners’ understanding of philosophy of qualitative research, qualitative designs basic approaches and to introduce a number of qualitative data collection and analysis methods and improve their knowledge and skills to evaluate and criticize qualitative research in science education. At the end of the process, the course involves empowering learners to foster an aspiration to design a qualitative research, accomplish the results as a portfolio and present their research process.
Course Content Nature of qualitative research, Qualitative research approaches (Case study, Action research, Phenomonology, etc.), Ethics in qualitative research, selection of sampling types and data sources, development of data collection tools (Observation, Interview, etc.), Role of the researcher, Qualitative data analysis, Approaches to ensuring validity and reliability.
