Course Objective The aim of the Contemporary Museum Education and Practices course; To examine museum education with an interdisciplinary approach by considering the theoretical and practical dimensions; To evaluate the developing contemporary museum education studies on the basis of art and culture in terms of visual arts education with a scientific approach. It is aimed to contribute to scientific knowledge through practices and activities by including the developments in museum education in the world and in Turkey in visual arts education.
Course Content Museum education is generally defined as museum activities carried out within the framework of museum studies, in order to provide information and experience opportunities for its audience. In addition to the theoretical knowledge provided by formal learning environments, museum activities contribute to the student's taking an active role in the learning-teaching environment, taking responsibility for learning and contributing to the learning process by doing-experience, which is a requirement of the principle of learning by doing. Visual arts teaching contents cover a wide range of theoretical and practical aspects. Museum education contributes to students and educators as an indispensable part of the visual arts education program, which is born from the combination of art, culture and education offered by visual arts education. Museum knowledge, museum learning, interdisciplinary museum education practices, museum education and art education relationship, teaching methods-techniques and applications used, visual arts education and material development in the museum, creative drama in the museum, social studies in the museum, museum education and technology, museum education and contemporary art approaches constitute the content of the course.
