COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective The aim of the course is to develop a deep understanding of the philosophy, approaches, qualitative data collection and analysis methods of qualitative research and the knowledge and skills of learners to evaluate and criticize scientific studies in the field of science using these processes. At the end of this process, the aim is to create the competence and desire in the fields of learners to prepare and present a portfolio study covering the planning and finalization of a qualitative work process on a subject in line with their interests.
Course Content The content of the course consists of qualitative research designs (Ethnography, Phenomenology, Grounded Theory, Case Studies, Action), mix methods (Parallel, Sequential, Triangulation, Embedded, Transformative), sampling in qualitative research, data collection techniques in qualitative research, validity, reliability, generalization and ethics in qualitative research, the nature of qualitative data and the role of the researcher in qualitative research, developing research proposal, qualitative data analysis and writing a project report. In this course, students will be informed about the planning, management and evaluation of qualitative studies.

1Develop an insight into paradigm shift from quantitative to qualitative research.
2Develop an insight into the designs of qualitative research.
3Develop an insight into the mix research models, enrich their theoretical knowledge and understand the importance of mix methods in science education.
4Understand nature of qualitative research and the role of researcher.
5Ensure the issues of reliability, validity and ethical issues in qualitative research veri toplama araçları geliştirme.
6Engage practices by taking steps to develop and implement a qualitative or mix research study including the process of definition and research the problem, determine possible solutions, development and implementation a plan, evaluation, reflection and improvement.
7Develop academic writing skills by reporting the results of the research, and transfers in a written, oral and visual systematic manner on national and international academic platforms.
