Aim and importance of quality control, transition from quality control to total quality control, definition of continuous improvement concepts.Definition of welded manufacturing and the importance of quality control in welded manufacturing. Defects in welded connections and evaluation criteria. Welding defects, causes and precautions. Grading of weld seam defects and criteria specified in standards. Methods used in the evaluation of welding defects and welding measuring instruments. Destructive testing methods of welded joints, welded sample standards, sample preparation techniques. Non-destructive testing of welded joints and report preparation techniques. Visual inspection and evaluation criteria of weld seams. Radiographic, penetration, ultrasonic and magnetic control of weld seams.
