Course Objective To have students know about energy efficiency regulations and cogeneration in industry, to be able to make Thermodynamic Analysis of Combined Cycle Power Plants and to know important technical parameters used in cogeneration.
Course Content Introduction to Cogeneration; Related to energy efficiency regulations and cogeneration in the industry. Thermodynamic Analysis of Combined Cycle Power Plants; Important Technical Parameters Used in Cogeneration: Heat Power Ratio, Quality of Heat Energy, Load Models, Fuel Usability, System Reliability; Classification of Cogeneration Systems: Meeting the basic electric load, Meeting the basic heat load, Meeting the electric load, Meeting the heat load; Developments in Cogeneration Technology: Steam turbine cogeneration systems, Gas turbine cogeneration systems; Energy and exergy analysis in cogeneration and trigeneration systems. Feasibility and preparation principles in cogeneration systems Trigeneration and applications.
