Course Objective Old and resent tectonic concepts, neotectonic-paleotectonic definitions, general tectonic position of Turkey in pre-neotectonic period, Neotectonic evolution of compressed structures in East Anatolian Region, extended structures in Aegean Graben System and transition structures in Middle Anatolian Region, North Anatolian Fault, East Anatolian Fault, Bitlis clamp belt and general interpretation of evolution in neotectonic period of Turkey.
Course Content Cycles of Orogenesis of Turkey which took place during it’s geological history (Pan-African episode, Hercynian orogeny, Cimmerian orogeny, Alpine orogeny and Neotectonic episode), Neotectonics, Major Palaeotectonics ensembles of Turkey and Geological evolution in which Neotectonic period (Miocene-Actual), Major geological structural elements which forming Neotectonic period of Turkey (North Anatolian Fault Zone, East Anatolian Fault zone, Dead Sea Fault Zone, Aegean Arc, Cyprean Arc, Bitlis Suture), Neotectonic provinces (East Anatolian Contractional Province, North Anatolian Province, Central Anatolian Ova province, Grabes of Western Anaolia).
