Course Objective	To provide theoretical background and application principles for design and analysis of soil and structures which interact with soil.
Course Content	"Site Exploration; Field and laboratory tests; Geotechnical report preparation and evaluation; Foundation excavations; Lateral earth pressure and retaining walls, braced cuts: Stress distribution and settlement calculations; Design of shallow foundation; Design of deep foundation, pile foundations; Foundations of soil structures. " .

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES

1	Determines lateral soil pressures and design retaining structures accordingly.
2	Performs slope stability analysis of soils and design slopes.
3	Evaluates the outputs of laboratory and field experiments, use them in design and prepares soil investigation reports.
4	Designs shallow and deep foundations.
5	Distinguishes the need for soil improvements, analyzes soils under earthquake loading.
6	Prepares projects and reports individually and as a group.
