COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course Level Master's Degree
Course Type Elective
Course Objective Under the observation that environmental problems are increasing, this course shows the interaction between these problems and soil. It provides the ability to analyze the contaminant transport in the soil and remediation approaches along with how to use soil to reduce environmental problems.
Course Content Relevant laws, directives, standarts, municipal and dangerous wastes. Geochemistry. Principles of Hydrogeology. Contaminant Transport. Soil Exploration at contaminated sites, subsurface characterization. Soil Exploration at contaminated sites, subsurface characterization. Landfills and impoundments. Geosynthetics. Collection and removal systems. Clay and geomembrane liners, cover systems. Stability of landfills. Bioremediation.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.
Mode of Delivery Face to Face

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Knows the relevant laws, directives and standarts about landfills, municipal and dangerous wastes
2 Evaluates contaminants, soil conditions, and contaminant transport in the soil. Assess remediation options.
3Designs landfills and its components.
4Prepares projects and reports individually and as a group.
