Course Objective
The aim of this course is to teach advanced topics in database management and modeling in theory and in practise.
Course Content
Introduction: an overview of database management, database systems architecture, relational database concept, query languages. Relational model: relational algebra, data integrity. Database design: functional dependencies, normalization, semantic modelling. Transaction management: recovery, concurrency. Further topics: security, optimization, distributed database systems, object-oriented database systems. Recent research topics.
