Course Objective The aim of this course is for the student to know the characteristics of the intensive care environment, ethical and legal responsibilities, and to develop the concepts and principles that will form the basis for the care, treatment and follow-up of the patient by examining the frequently encountered problems in patients monitored in intensive care, the symptoms, signs and causes caused by these.
Course Content Basic concepts and principles of intensive care nursing, classification and physical characteristics of intensive care units, the importance of teamwork in the intensive care unit, ethical and legal responsibilities, patient evaluation-scoring systems in the intensive care unit, monitoring, invasive and non-invasive practices and the responsibilities of the nurse. Patient safety in the intensive care unit, Nutrition support in intensive care patients, Respiratory System Problems in Intensive Care, Cardiovascular System Problems in Intensive Care, Neurological System Problems in Intensive Care, Endocrine System Problems in Intensive Care, Gastrointestinal System Problems in Intensive Care, Renal System in Intensive Care System Related Problems, Infection control in intensive care units, Transplantations

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Being able to explain the features of the intensive care unit
2Gaining the ability to access, evaluate and interpret information related to intensive care
3To understand the importance of diagnosing intensive care patients and using the data obtained to meet individual care needs in line with the nursing process with a holistic approach
4Ability to think critically about the care needs of patients monitored in intensive care and develop problem-solving skills in emergency situations
5To be able to explain the legal and ethical rules that must be followed in the treatment and care of intensive care patients
6Ability to follow current developments and national and international publications in the field of intensive care nursing
