Course Objective To give information about the studies on urban geography.
Course Content Definition of city, criteria used to distinguish urban-rural settlements; Urbanization, historical development of urbanization in the world and in Turkey, factors affecting urbanization, types of cities in historical times; The distribution of cities and the factors affecting the distribution; Urban functions, general and special city functions, classification of cities, types and characteristics of cities according to their functions, examples from the world and Turkey; Urban land use, general characteristics, theory and models; central place theory and examination of models.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Students can analyze studies on urban geography in Turkey.
2Students will have an idea about the bibliography of urban geography in Turkey and the World.
3Learns the research principles of urban geography based on literature knowledge.
4Based on case studies, students will learns research, data collection and evaluation methods in urban geography.
