Course Objective Bu dersin amacı edebiyat ve sinema ilişkisini, İngiliz romanlarından uyarlanmış filmler üzerinden incelemek, roman anlatı diliyle film anlatı dili arasındaki farklar bağlamında kuramsal ve analitik çalışmalar yapmaktır. The purpose of this course is to carry out theoretical and analytical studies in terms of the difference between narrative languages of novel and cinema and to analyse the relationship of literature and cinema over the film adaptations of selec6ted English novels.
Course Content The historical, philosophical, political and social relations of the English novel will be analysed technically and stylistically. These technical and stylistic characteristics will be compared to those of cinema over the examples of film adaptations of the selected novels from English literature and their comparative analyses will be made.

2studies and analyses ten selected English novels alongside with their film adaptations.

4analyses the possible differences, gains or losses of meanings between cinema and novel comparatively.
5reads and criticises both genres from the perspective of contemporary critical theories despite their differences.
6is capable of understanding the mutual contributions of cinema and novel to each other.
7observes the differences between classical and popular novel adaptations in cinema as the product of popular culture.
8writes articles on the comparison of film and novel.
9writes comparative and critical essays by reading a novel alongside with its film adaptation.
10applies theories of novel and criticism in film analyses.
