COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective The purpose of this course is to study the theory of poetry, types of poetry and their technical characteristics on the examples of poems selected from English and American literatures.
Course Content The historical, philosophical, political and social relations of the English and American poetry will be analysed technically and stylistically. These technical and stylistic characteristics will be compared and contrasted over the examples of poetry selected from English and American literatures and their comparative analyses will be carried out.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1The students understand the technical characteristics of poetry and analyse its artistic features.
2They study examples of poetry selected from English and American literatures and analyse them in terms of their techniques.
3They identify the differences between the narrative languages of poetry and prose.
4They analyse the possible differences, gains or losses of meanings between poetry and prose comparatively.
5They read and criticise poetry from the perspective of contemporary critical.
6They write articles on the study of poetry.
7They apply theories of criticism in poetry analyses.
