Course Objective This course aims to examine the development of a female and feminist theatre. An overview of women’s roles in writing and creating theatre will be depicted by examining plays by women, theoretical pieces relating to the plays and playwrights, as well as historical materials relating to the contextualization of the feminist literature and theatre. The study will question how women’s writings have been evaluated and how feminist movements have influences the women’s statue and how female and feminist performance have been produced, staged, and received throughout history? Additionally the following questions will be asked in order explore the female and gender issues; For whom, by whom, and under what circumstances have women playwrights plotted their plays? What role do men take, as both contributors and audience members, in women’s theatre? Performance, theatre, plays and media have become vehicles in the development of feminist theatre and the exploration and representation of feminist, female and gender issues. The course syllabus will provide an overview of history, theory, plays, films, and controversies related to feminist theatre.
Course Content Development of woman in literature, formation of feminist movement and feminist theatre, feminist literary terms and concepts, methods of analysis and literary research techniques will be evaluated both in theory and practice.

9Using theatrical and literary concepts produces literary interpretations and commentaries.
10Introduces to the field new ideas by deducing from the commentaries of the woman plays based on evidence and research.
