Course Objective It is aimed to understand the development stages of medicine and the place and importance of Ottoman medicine in the history of medicine.
Course Content The content of the course includes the developments in the field of medicine, inventions, the science of medicine in the Ottoman Empire, medical works, physicians, medical institutions, diseases and public health concepts and their reflections on the present day.

1The student will have information about the history of medicine.
2Can count the main stages of the development of medicine.
3Comprehend the place and importance of Turkish medicine in the history of medicine.
4Explain important Turkish physicians and their contributions to the history of medicine in Turkish medical history.
5Have knowledge about the Ottoman health organization.
6Can explain how the Ottoman health organization changed in the historical process and how and the effects of changing health policies.
