Course Objective
This course is to acquaint the Nursing Division students with fundamental facts and concepts of biochemistry and to familiarize them with the importance of knowing the fundamental principles of this field.
Course Content
Cell ultra-structure, General properties of carbohydrates, Glycolysis, Gluconeogenesis, Pentose phosphate pathway, Glycogen synthesis, Enzymes, General properties of lipids, Beta oxidation of fatty acids, Lipid biosynthesis, Lipoprotein metabolism, Amino acids, Peptide bonds, Removal of amino acid nitrogen, Nucleic acids, Hormones, Vitamines.
