Course Type Compulsory
Course Objective Turkish War of Independence, Atatürk's reforms and Kemalist Thought System and provide accurate information about the history of Turkish Republic. Provide accurate information about the threats to Turkey and Ataturk's reforms, policies and Kemalist Thought. Unite Turkish youth around the national targets in line with Atatürk's principles and ideas and indivisible unity of Turkey.
Course Content Concepts, definitions, methods and descriptions of the subject. Industrial revolution and French revolution, the fall of Ottoman Empire (XIX. Century), Decree of Reordering and Reform, the First and Second Constitutional Period, Wars of Trablusgarb and Balkans, the Firs World War, Ceasefire Accord of Mondros, Wilson’s Principles, Paris Conference, Mustafa Kemal’s arrival to Samsun and general outlook of Anatolia, Amasya Announcement, National Congresses, the opening of Assembly of Deputies, the foundation of Turkish Grand National Assembly and domestic riots, the Law of Fundamental Organization, the foundation of regular army, Battles of I. and II. Inonu and Kutahya, Eskisehir and Sakarya, the great attack, the War of Independence-period accords and agreements, Lozan accord, out thrown of throne.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1To learn the definition of the revolution and to be able to understand the causes of the Turkish Revolution
2To be able to understand the endevaours to save the Ottoman Empire together
3To be able to see the wars of Triboli and the Balkans as a whole
4To be able to think about the World War I (the first) and the collapse of the Ottoman Empire
5To be able to understand and think about Mondros Armistice and the occupation of Izmir
6To be able to see Mustafa Kemal Pasha’s leaving from İstanbul to Samsun and the power of the initation of National Struggle as a whole
7To be able to think about the studies Mustafa Kemal Pasha made from Samsun to Ankara as a whole
8To notice the opening of the Turkish Grant National Assembly and the foundation of the new Turkish State and to enjoy the feeling of what has been done
9To know about the revolts against to the Turkish Grant National Assembly, Sevres Treaty and reactions to this agreement and to be able to see them critically
10To know and understand the fronts of the National Struggle, the battles of East and South front with Armenians and France
11To be able to get to know about the battles of West front in the National Struggle and Grand Triumph
12To be able to get to know and understand the end of Turkish-Greek War, Mudanya Armistice and its results
13To be able to get to know and see Lausanne Peace Treaty and the recognization of new Turkish State by the World as a a whole
