Course Objective Informing students about the first archaeological researches and the ancient cities of Anatolia and Anatolian chronology.
Course Content Prehistoric age civilizations’ main characteristics: Paleolithic age, Mesolithic age, Neolithic age, Bronze age; Historic age civilizations’ main characteristics: Protohistoric age civilizations, Iron age; Historical geographic regions of Turkey: Thrakia, Aiolis, Bithyia, İonia, Mysia, Phrygia, Kappadokia, Galatia, Paphlagonia; Pontus, Isauria, Laodikeia, Lykaonia, Arzava, Pisidia, Lydia, Karia; Lykia, Pamphilia, Kilikia, Kammagene, Urartu, Masapotamia; Anatolia of the Seljuks period: the conquests and first period, Anatolian Seljuks and the other civilizations; Anatolia of the Ottoman Empire period: Early Ottoman period, supdivisions of country and sanjaks, administrative reform and later periods. The history and archaelogical remains of the important ancient cities in Turkey and plans and geographical features of these ancient cities.
