Course Objective Understanding the place, importance and impacts of sufi orders in modern Turkey.
Course Content 1 Sufism and sufi orders at the present 2 The role of sufis in the First Constitutional Era. 3 The sufi associations and publications. 4 The position of sufi leaders in the first Assembly. 5 The controversial role of sufism after Republic. 6 The process of banning of sufi hospices. 7 The main reasons of the banning of sufism. 8 The early democratic life the attitudes towards sufism 9 The changes between 1950-1960 within the sufi life. 10 The proposals for opening the sufi hospices 11 Sufism and sufi hospices in the Islamic world. 12 The impacts of sufism on the west. 13 Criticism of sufism. 14 The problems of sufi life and their solutions.
