Course Objective Providing to the students basic knowledge on logistics and supply chain management
Course Content This course examines the planning and management of logistics functions and supply chain activities. Emphasis is placed on the introduction to physical distribution and logistics, logistics systems, product and logistics, logistics and supply chain management, order management and customer service, protective packaging and materials handling, traffic management, principles of inventory management, distribution centers and warehousing, logistics costs and cost tradeoff, information technology and electronic logistics, outsourcing and third party logistics, supplier selection and development, demand management, quick response, vendor managed inventory, logistics options, strategic alliances, and performance measurement. The integration of purchasing, materials management, and multifirm logistics planning will also be discussed.
