COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective The aim of this course is; to provide students with theoretical and practical skills about the mixture formation in internal combustion engines (ICE), the terminology and principles of injection phenomenon and fuel injection parameters, the combustion and combustion phases in ICE, and traditional/modern fuel injection systems used in internal combustion engines.
Course Content Fuel/Air mixture ratio requirements in internal combustion engines (ICE), determination of stoichiometric and actual mixture ratios, carburation and venturi principle, injection phenomenon and fuel injection terminology, combustion and stages in internal combustion engines, engine management system, modern and traditional fuel injection systems used in spark/compression ignition engines, GDI Engine operation modes and fuel systems, laboratory practices.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.

2Knows the mixture formation, combustion, and combustion phases in internal combustion engines.
4Knows the working principles and types of electronic fuel injection systems (EFI) in SI and CI engines.
3Knows the engine management system basics and working principles.
5Knows the operation modes and fuel systems of GDI Engines.
6Removes and installs the parts of modern fuel injection systems.
