OTOM 448VEHICLE AERODYNAMICS3 + 08th Semester4

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course Level Bachelor's Degree
Course Type Elective
Course Objective The aim of this course is to gain information about aerodynamic forces, internal and external flow of vehicles, design features and experimental methods.
Course Content The importance and the historical development of aerodynamics and fluid mechanics. External flow: boundary layers, vortex formation, separation of flow lines, the noise created by the flow, the effect of the ground. Friction and aerodynamic drag, center of pressure, aerodynamic forces, moments, and vehicle stability. Design features and the effect of aerodynamic performance, the internal flow: the flow around the engine, the flow inside the cabin, between vehicles and fixed structures (eg tunnel) flow between the vehicle. Experimental methods, measurement of air velocity, flow visualization, scale model testing, dimensional analysis, wind tunnels, testing and evaluation of model performance.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.
Mode of Delivery Face to Face

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Describes general information about the aerodynamic forces
2Describes the importance of the historical development of aerodynamics
3Describes the outer flow and the boundary layer
4Describes flow events around the engine
