COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course Level Bachelor's Degree
Course Type Elective
Course Objective This course aims to provide an understanding of the main properties (such as creep & fatigue) of materials at high temperatures. The course also aims to emphasise how microstructure and chemical composition affects the materials behaviours and characteristics at high temperatures.
Course Content Mechanical principles, Crystal defects and solid-state diffusion, creep mechanisms, Creep curve analysis, the effects of temperature and strain creep curve, mechanism of creep deformation maps, Creep damage and fracture mechanism maps, high temperatures, fatigue and fracture, creep-fatigue interaction and life prediction methods of high-temperature materials and selection criteria, design principles and practices for high temperatures.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.
Mode of Delivery Face to Face

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Explain creep and draw a typical creep curve
2Know and compare the difference between creep testing method with that of other conventional materials testing methods
