Course Objective
Study of finite element methods, basic notion of methods, material parameters and boundary conditions, solution techniques, evaluations of displacement-strain-stress relations. The effect of material behavior and load conditions on the structural behavior.
Course Content
Material and / or spatial separation of Finite elements. Simplex, the definition of complex elements and Maltipleks. Selection and degree of interpolation polynomials. Interpolation polynomials expressed in units of local and global coordinates. Element characteristic matrices and vectors. Direct approach, the variation approach, the weighted residual methods. Coordinate transformations. Assembly of element matrices and vectors, the system equations. Finite element equations.
