Course Objective Giving information to the undergraduate students studying architecture at the national and international level regarding the protection, understanding and repair of architectural heritage at the entry level, transferring the methods that will be perceived the Historical Environment by means of scientific documentation, survey techniques, gaining the ability to do research on building history; It is the aim of this course to convey information about the causes of deterioration of architectural heritage elements, conservation and restoration methods and techniques, restoration approach and practice.
Course Content Within the scope of the course; protection criteria, classification of architectural values to be protected, historical environment and causes of deterioration of architectural heritage. Samples are given from national and international conservation practices by giving information about conservation methods, field studies and preparation for restoration in single building or building groups scales. Measurement and documentation methods, survey and traditional measurement techniques are explained. Understanding and expressing a structure in terms of design principles, carrier system, materials and construction techniques and changes in the historical process; Survey study, deterioration analysis, material analysis, period analysis, restitution and restoration project preparation methods and applications are part of the content. Within the scope of the course application, it is aimed to take partial or complete measurements of a building or building community with traditional survey techniques, and to draw them in digital environment at the level of plan, section, view and detail.
