Course Objective To enable students to design -especially commercial- spaces with user-oriented spatial design approaches. To introduce architecture students to user-oriented design approaches and to teach students the methods used in these approaches. To give interior design projects to enable them to "learning by doing" these methods. To show students the features required to be user-oriented, especially in commercial spaces or public spaces. These can be listed as the purpose of the lesson.
Course Content Teknolojik gelişmeler (endüstriyelleşen üretim, dijitalleşen akıllı mekanlar gibi), inşaat sektöründeki rekabet ve kullanıcıların farklılaşan istekleri mekan tasarımcılarını kullanıcı odaklı yaklaşıma yöneltmektedir diyebiliriz. Bu derste genel olarak bu gelişmeler öğrencilere tanıtıldıktan sonra, iç mekan tasarımına katkı sağlayabilecek kullanıcı odaklı tasarım yaklaşımları öğrencilere tanıtılacaktır. Kullanıcı deneyimi tasarımı (UX design) kavramı, hizmet tasarımı, ürün tasarımı gibi disiplinler öğrencilere tanıtılarak bu disiplinlerin oluşmasını sağlayan yaklaşımlar ile mekan tasarımının kesiştiği noktalar öğrencilere gösterilecektir. Öğrencilerden özel sektöre ya da kamu sektörüne ait bir hizmetin mekanını tasarlaması istenecek ve bu mekan tasarlanırken, öğrencilerin kullanıcı odaklı tasarım yaklaşımlarını ve onlara ait metotları kullanmaları istenecektir. Öğrenciler ilk olarak mekanda gerçekleşen hizmeti tanıyacak, bu hizmeti kullanan kullanıcıları tanımlayacak ve bu kullanıcıları odaklarına alarak mekan tasarımlarını gerçekleştireceklerdir. Tasarladıkları bu mekanların farklı temas noktalarını prototiplere dönüştürerek, potansiyel kullanıcılar ile test edeceklerdir. The course starts with how technological developments; competition in the construction sector; the different demands of the users may lead the interior designers to adopt a user-centered approach. Later on, user-centered design approaches that can contribute to interior design will be introduced to the students. User-centered design disciplines such as "user experience design (UX design)" "service design" and "product design" will be introduced to students. Students will be asked to design the space of a service belonging to the private or public sector. While designing this space, students will be asked to use user-oriented design approaches and their methods. Students will first recognize the service taking place in the space; define the users who use this service, and design the space by focusing on these users. They will transform the different touchpoints of these spaces they designed into prototypes and test them with potential users.
