Course Objective This course aims at improving students’ ability to read and comprehend intermediate level reading passages, to skim and scan the text in order to get the main idea and answer the relevant questions, to make inferences and summaries and to develop their vocabulary about the topic, to make connections between the passage and their own lives and to develop their reading skills in order to make definitions, classifications and analyses.
Course Content The content of this course includes contemporary and academic reading passages which improve students’ ability to read and comprehend intermediate level reading passages and to develop reading subskills.

1 Telling and expressing his /her sensations – Understanding an informative text. Interviewing someone about his/her projects. Presenting a project – Telling about an event in past.
2 Formation of hypothesis in futur – Understanding the informative documents – Expressing a judgement , understanding a positive or negative judgement.
3 Giving advices – Formulating hypothesis in present and past – Understanding a document about a current problem.
4 Indirect and direct speech – Indirect interrogation - Indirect speech –Hypothesis.
5 Expressing a desire and an opinion – Understanding and motivating a viewpoint –( Prove a viewpoint).
6 Telling the events in past – Understanding the familiar language – Reading and understanding newspaper’s articles about different events.
7 A test for being a good driver – Understanding an informative text – Expressing the feelings like distress and surprise.
8 Writing a letter formel – Expressing a letter and motivating it.
9 Understanding a scientific text – Understanding literary texts – Explaining the machines and their use.
10 Understanding certain signs – Expressing decision and indecision – Cause clauses – Reporting a newspaper article and selecting important informations.
