Course Objective Semiconductors have already found an important place in modern technology and are now used in a great variety of high power products, including heat, light and motor control and also power supplies. At the end of the lectures students will get an idea of control and protection technique and design principles of modern power supplies.
Course Content Introduction to the semiconductors used in power supplies, Classification of power supplies, Diode circuits and rectifiers, Controlled rectifiers, Step-up and step down converters.

1Student designs and implements DC-DC converters for various load conditions.
2Student designs AC-AC converters and makes motor control applications by them.
3Student designs and implements single or three phase inverters.
4Student designs snubber and driver circuits.
5Student realizes any microprocessor based power electronic control system application.
6Student analyzes power electronic circuits by simulation.
