Course Objective Energy and its types, change of states/processes, pure substances, practical application of the principle of conservation of energy for open and closed systems
Course Content Basic Concepts, Units, Systems, Thermodynamic properties, Thermodynamic equilibrium, Extended definition of energy, work and heat; Relationship between the work and heat; PV diagrams; Pure substances, PVT relations; Ideal Gas law; real gases, pure substances, the First Law of Thermodynamics, Enthalpy- internal Energy and Specific Heat Relations , Principle of conservation of energy and mass; and application of these laws on closed and open systems. Change in states of ideal gases.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
11. Ability of calculating and reading thermodynamic parameters from the tables and making conclusions from data 2. Ability to make calculations about open and closed systems. 3. To be able to comment and get information about phase changes. 4. Ability of applying the first law of thermodynamics in practice. 5. Ability to define models of ideal and real gases and to make calculations by these models.
