Course Content Introduction to textile reinforced composites. General information about manufacturing methods and testing methods of textile reinforced composites.

1Defines and explains applications and history of composites and TRM.
2Defines and explains fibers and matrices used in TRM
3Defines and explains surface treatments, fillers and additives used in TRM.
4Defines and explains manufacturing of TRM, incorporation of fibers into matrix and terminology of manufacturing.
5Defines and explains extrusion molding process.
6Defines and explains general information about compression molding and filament winding processes.
7Defines and explains general information about injection molding process.
8Defines and explains general information about resin transfer molding process.
9Defines and explains fiber-matrix interactions, parameters affecting TRM properties (size of reinforcer, length of fibers, void volume) and mechanics of TRM.
10Calculates fiber, matrix and void volumes.
11Defines and explains general information about static mechanical properties of TRM: tensile, compressive, flexural and shear properties.
12Defines and explains fatigue, creep and impact properties of TRM..
13Defines general information about fracture behavior of TRM.
14Defines quality inspection of TRM.
