Course Objective Introduction to knitting and teaching flat and warp knitting methods
Course Content Basic parts, sistems ve machines on flat knitting. Basic knit structures, loop types, quality control on flat knitting, fabric mistakes, production calculations. Difference between flat knitting and warp knitting, basic warp knitting techniques, single bar, double bar warp knits, design techniques, notation and analysis
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Students are expected to have knowledge about the knitting elements.
2Students are expected to have knowledge about loop structure and loop formation.
3Students are expected to have knowledge about basic knitting structures which are obtained single and double jersey flat knitting machines.
4Students are expected to have knowledge about non-jacquard flat bed knitting machines.
5Students are expected to have knowledge about principle of warp knitting.
6Students are expected to have knowledge about main differences between tricot and Raschel machines.
7Students are expected to have knowledge about theoritical warp knitting production calculations.

2 Knitting elements on weft knitting
3 Stitch formation with bearded, latch and compound needles and knitting parameters and fabric formation in weft knitting
4 Notations on weft knitting and basic knitting on single needle bed knitting machines
5 Explaining the reasons for the formation of spirality in knitting and the expediences for spirality's prevention
6 Explaining the formation of knitted fabric in the double plate and the recognition criteria of the formed fabric
7 Explaining Links-Links knitting and other needle movements (hanger/nopen, skipping and transfer) used in weft knitting
8 Explaining the basic knittings obtained in single plate and double plate weft knitting machines
9 Midterm exam
10 Mechanic jacquard systems on flat and circular knitting machines
11 Explaining the multi-cam needle control system in circular knitting machines.
12 Explaining the loop formation principles in tricot and Raschel warp knitting machines.
13 Notation in warp knitting. Explaining the basic warp knitting structures obtained in a single needle bar.
14 Making theoretical fabric production calculation in warp knitting.
